Sydney Opera House's GRAPHIC festival returns with a huge line up led by George Miller and Kevin Smith

One of Sydney's most diverse, and celebrated festivals is back and it's returned pulling absolutely no punches, with a very big, very impressive lineup spanning the worlds of graphic storytelling, animation, and music. In it's fifth year, GRAPHIC festival will be bringing big names like George Miller, Kevin Smith, Sarah Blasko, and Ólafur Arnalds to the iconic Sydney Opera House for a unique program unlike any other on the city's rich event calender.

Mad Max: Fury Road - Creating the Apocalypse

In a world premiere, award-winning Writer and Director George Miller will be making his only Australian stage appearance this year with an 'In Conversation' style talk, taking attendees through Mad Max: Fury Road and the 12 year journey that led to the acclaimed film. He will be joined by co-writer and illustrator Brendan McCarthy and co-writer and dramaturge Nico Lathouris in taking attendees through the process it took to get Fury Road from storyboard to screen.

Kevin Smith's Superhero Multiverse

Funny man and all-round genius Kevin Smith (Clerks, Comic Book Men, Mallrats) will be giving an in-depth keynote on the superhero blockbuster frenzy, Marvel VS DC, and how his childhood obsession evolved into his beloved View Askewniverse. The Keynote will take place in the Concert Hall on September 28th and be followed by a Q&A session with Jason Mewes AKA Silent Bob.

Sarah Blasko - Eternal Return Album Preview with Mike Daly

Against a backdrop of Commissioned Visual by award-winning artist Mike Daly, Australian treasure Sarah Blasko will be bringing a world-exclusive performance to Sydney Opera House, debuting her long-awaited fifth album Eternal Return ahead of it's release in November.

Ólafur Arnalds + 13-piece chamber orchestra

Specially commissioned for the festival, Iceland's BAFTA award-winning pianist-composer Ólafur Arnalds will be performing as the head of a 13-piece chamber orchestra arrached by Viktor Orri Árnason, delivering a mix of new works, fan favourites, and rare gems against live visuals by Máni M. Sigfússon.

The Walking Dead: Season 6 Premiere

A free screening of the highly anticipated Season 6 Premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead will be taking place in the Concert Hall during the festival to coincide with it debuting express from the U.S on Foxtel's FX on Monday October 12th. If the recent Game of Thrones screening at Concert Hall is anything to go by, this will be well worth showing up to. If Daryl dies, we riot.

In addition to the above there will be various free talks from the likes of Brendan McCarthy and Animal Logic, as well as free screenings of the following films:

She Makes Comics and Future Shock! 2000AD; A Cautionary Tail
Oscar Wilde’s The Nightingale & The Rose
